RCCG HYMN 462

Hush'd Was the Ev-'ning Hymn

"Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth." - 1 Sam 3:9 \n\n

CHRISTIAN LIFE 4 VERSES

VERSE 1

Hush'd was the ev-'ning hymn,
The tem-ple courts were dark,
The lamp was burn-ing dim
Be-fore the sa-cred ark,
When sud-den-ly a voice di-vine
Rang through the si-lence of the shrine.

VERSE 2

Oh give me Sam-uel's ear!
The o-pen ear, O Lord,
A-live and quick to hear
Each whis-per of Thy word;
Like him to an-swer at Thy call,
And to o-bey Thee first of all.

VERSE 3

Oh give me Samuel's heart!
A lowly heart, that waits
Where in Thy house Thou art,
Or watches at Thy gates
By day and night, a heart that still
Moves at the breathing of Thy will.

VERSE 4

Oh, give me Samuel's mind!
A sweet unmurm'ring faith,
Obedient and resigned
To Thee in life and death,
That I may read, with childlike eyes,
Truths that are hidden from the wise.
